The Fundamentals Of Islamic Worship

Worship in Islam has been woven into a Muslim’s daily life. It is not confined to any particular space. The fundamentals of Islamic worship are embedded in the concept of five basic pillars. These pillars are responsible for allowing Muslims to strengthen their relationships with God.

  •          “Shahada”, Profession of Faith: In Islam, there is a centralized belief that there is no god but God, and Muhammad serves to be the Messenger of God. The given phrase has been written in Arabic. Moreover, it has been predominantly featured in a wide range of objects as well as architecture –including the renowned Qu’ran. It is the holy book in Islam of divine revelations. One can become a true Muslim by reciting the given phrase with total conviction. You can come across powerful messages like “Aqeedah Al Tahawiyyah” and “Aqidah Al Wasithiyah.”

  •         “Salat” or Prayer: Muslims are known to pray by facing towards the Mecca 5 times per day. Their prayer is known to include the recitation of the introductory chapter of the Qu’ran –referred to as the Sura. Muslims are also given the freedom to offer worship anywhere individually. On the other hand, they can also worship or offer prayers together in a mosque.

  •          “Zakat” or Alms: As per the proceedings of the Islamic law, Muslims are expected to donate a specific portion of the given income to the community members who might be in need. Most of the wealthy Muslim individuals or rulers went forward with constructing mosques, hospitals, drinking fountains, schools, and other places of public interest as a way of their religious duties. At the same time, these deeds were aimed at securing the blessings in association with charity.

  •          “Sawm” or Fasting: In the month of Ramadan, during the daylight hours, all adult & healthy Muslims are expected to refrain themselves from consuming drinks or food items. With the help of the given temporary deprivation, the individuals are capable of renewing the respective awareness related to everything God has offered them in lives. During the month of Ramadan, the Muslims tend to share the overall hunger as well as thirst of those who might be less fortunate.

  •          “Hajj” or Pilgrimage: As per the permission of the health as well as finances, Muslims are expected to visit the holy Mecca at least once in their lives. Muslims refer the same to as the house of Abraham that has been built for God and worship in its direction.
